The cap is red-orange to pink brown. The cap surface is smooth, not viscid nor sticky.

The flesh is white, unchanging; the odour is pleasant; its texture is fibrous.

The gills are cream to yellow, adnate, crowded . The spore print is white. This species is saprophytic. It grows on the ground, on a rather acid soil.

The fruiting period takes place from September to October.
Dimensions: width of cap approximately 6 cm (between 3 and 8 cm)

Distinctive features : species from the Black Forest (Germany), differs from Collybia maculata by its mild non bitter taste and the lack of reddish stains

Rhodocollybia fodiens is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is quite rare, more generally speaking .
