The flagellate dermatitis poisoning syndrome
Incubation : from 1 to 3 days.Responsible compound : lentinan (thermolabile polysaccharide).
The flagellate dermatitis is a rare disorder (intoxication or allergic reaction) occuring sometimes after ingesting raw of half-cooked Shiitake mushrooms, or when the subject develops an allergic reaction following a repeated consumption. It lasts from a few days to several weeks. It is currently still very rare in Europe.
Signs of intoxication :
- Erythemas (reddening) with papules or papulovesicles, arranged in parallel stripes "as whiplashes" on the trunk, extremities and the nape area.
- severe itching
Responsible species :
The
Shiitake.
