The cap is saddle-shaped, with a brown to brown-black internal surface, the external being of the same colour, with a well differentiated stem, whitish, veined or furrowed with round furrows.

The fertile surface is smooth.

It grows on the ground, in coniferous or deciduous woods, on sandy-clayey grounds, on a rather calcareous soil.

The fruiting period takes place from May to August.
Dimensions:
  total height approximately 5 cm (between 3 and 6 cm)

Distinctive features : sorry, no English description yet

Helvella solitaria is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is quite rare, more generally speaking .
