The cap is pale ochre, with a central umbo; its margin is smooth. The cap surface is smooth, not viscid nor sticky.

The stem is pale brown to ochre brownish, without ring.

The flesh is unchanging; its texture is fibrous.

The gills are pale beige then brownish, adnate, crowded . The spore print is white. This species is saprophytic. It grows on the ground, with broad-leaved trees, usually with poplar.

The fruiting period takes place from July to September.
Dimensions: width of cap approximately 4 cm (between 2 and 6 cm)
  height of stem approximately 6 cm (between 4 and 8 cm)

Distinctive features : greasy appearance; gills never white (very rare species)

Lyophyllum hebelomoides is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is quite rare, more generally speaking .
