The fruiting body is ear-shaped, erect, with a chestnut-brown to blackish internal surface, the external surface being paler, yellow-brown to red-brown, with a very short stem. The fertile surface is smooth. It grows on the ground, in coniferous woods, in higher altitudes, on a rather calcareous soil, with spruce. The fruiting period takes place from August to October.
Distinctive features : sorry, no English description yet Wynella atrofusca is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is very rare, more generally speaking .
