The fruiting body is branched cup-shaped, with a purple-violet (also white) internal surface, the external surface being whitish. The fertile surface is smooth. It grows on the ground, in coniferous woods (rare under broad-leaved trees), on a rather calcareous soil, with spruce, pine, beech. The fruiting period takes place from April to September.
Distinctive features : sorry, no English description yet Sarcosphaera coronaria is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is infrequent, more generally speaking .
