The fruiting body is cup-shaped, with a shiny then matt black internal surface, the external surface being matt black, hairy.

The fertile surface is smooth.

It grows on the ground, in coniferous woods, amongst moss, with spruce, pine.

The fruiting period takes place from January to June.
Dimensions: width of fruiting body approximately 2 cm (between 1 and 3 cm)
  total height approximately 0.8 cm (between 0.6 and 1 cm)

Pseudoplectania nigrella is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is quite rare, more generally speaking .
