The fruiting body is cup-shaped, with a wavy margin, with a pale ochre-brown to chestnut-brown internal surface, the external surface being ochraceous cream.

The fertile surface is smooth.

It grows on wood or on the ground, in leaf litter of humus-rich soils, close to stumps or on buried wood.

The fruiting period takes place from April to December.
