The fruiting body is cup-shaped, with an orange-yellow to bright red-orange internal surface, the external surface being whitish, with a short, central stem, buried in the ground, not clearly marked from the fertile head.

The fertile surface is smooth.

It grows on the ground, in heather moors, on sandy soils.

The fruiting period takes place from October to March.
Dimensions: width of fruiting body approximately 1 cm (between 0.5 and 2 cm)

Chemical tests : asci tips not blued with Melzer's reagent.

Distinctive features : sorry, no English description yet

Neottiella rutilans is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is quite rare, more generally speaking .
