The cap is bright lemon yellow to golden yellow, then brown when mature; its margin is striate when mature. The cap surface is scaly, not viscid nor sticky.

The stem is yellow, with a membranous ring.

The flesh is yellowish, unchanging; its taste is mild; the odour is unpleasant; its texture is fibrous.

The gills are yellow, free, not very crowded . The spore print is white. This species is saprophytic. It grows on the ground, in greenhouses only.

The fruiting period takes place all year long.

Distinctive features : in greenhouses only (tropical species); yellow colour, upturned margin

Leucocoprinus birnbaumii is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is quite rare, more generally speaking .
