The cap is honey yellow to olive green when damp, ochre when dry; its margin is striate when moist.
The cap surface is smooth, not viscid nor sticky.
The stem is same colour as cap, paler towards top, very long and thin, with the base covered with white down, without ring.
The flesh is yellow whitish, unchanging;
its texture is fibrous.
The gills are whitish then olive yellowish, adnate, distant .
The spore print is dark brown. This species is saprophytic.
It grows on the ground, in broad-leaved (sometimes coniferous) very damp woods, amongst sphagnum, moss, peat.
The fruiting period takes place from July to November.
