The cap is white, with lilac to vinaceous scales. The cap surface is scaly, not viscid nor sticky.

The stem is bulbous, with a membranous ring.

The flesh is white, yellowing in the stem base when exposed to air; its taste is mild; the odour is pleasant, of aniseed or bitter almonds; its texture is fibrous.

The gills are free, crowded . The spore print is brown. This species is saprophytic. It grows on the ground.

The fruiting period takes place from June to November.
