The fruiting body is cup-shaped, with a finely toothed margin, with a pale beige internal surface, the external surface being the same colour and hairy, without stem, or very short and buried. The fertile surface is smooth. It grows on the ground, in damp deciduous (sometimes coniferous) woods, amongst moss, on clayey or sandy soils. The fruiting period takes place from April to December.
Tarzetta cupularis is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is infrequent, more generally speaking .
