The fruiting body is top-shaped then cup-shaped, white to orange brownish, not banded, with a russed stem.

The flesh is dull orange; its taste is pleasant; the odour is mealy.

The fertile surface is made of whitish then rusty, white-tipped spines. The spore print is brown.

It grows on the ground, in broad-leaved and coniferous woods.

The fruiting period takes place from July to December.
