The cap is cup-shaped, flattening with age, with a shiny black then matt black internal surface, the external being sooty-grey to light grey, with a well differentiated stem, dark bron to black and felty, covered with grey-brown hair.

The fertile surface is smooth.

It grows on the ground, in dunes, sandy soils, along stream banks, with willow.

The fruiting period takes place from April to December.
Dimensions: width of cap approximately 2 cm (between 1 and 3 cm)
  total height approximately 8 cm (between 0.6 and 30 cm)

Distinctive features : sorry, no English description yet

Helvella corium is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is quite rare, more generally speaking .
