The cap is dark brown, with a central umbo. The cap surface is smooth, not viscid nor sticky.

The flesh is unchanging; its taste is mild; the odour is not distinctive; its texture is fibrous.

The gills are dirty white or brown then pink, not very crowded . The spore print is pink. This species is saprophytic. It grows on the ground, on a rather acid soil.

The fruiting period takes place from March to November.
Dimensions: width of cap approximately 3.5 cm (between 2 and 6 cm)
  height of stem approximately 6 cm (between 2 and 10 cm)
  thickness of stem (at largest section) approximately 6 mm (between 2 and 10 mm)

Chemical tests : none.

Distinctive features : dark brown cap, hygrophanous, getting paler in radial bands; no mealy odour nor taste; in open woodlands in spring

Entoloma vernum is still unreported so far in the forest of Rambouillet, and is infrequent, more generally speaking .
